Jackie's Sugar & Spice Sip & See

I was thrilled to be able to work with some friends to throw a baby shower for one of my best friends Jackie, who was pregnant with twin girls.  When some unexpected circumstances landed her on strict bed rest pretty early in her pregnancy, we had to adapt… so we came up with a two-part shower: first, a “shower by mail” in which Jackie’s friends and family had the opportunity to help this mama-to-be prepare to welcome her girls via gifts and words of encouragement by mail, and then a “sip & see” once the twins were born and healthy enough to meet everyone.  It was a huge success – Jackie felt very loved, and who doesn’t love a shower where the babies are actually there in person??

For all elements, we went with a “sugar & spice” theme and a color palette in browns and pinks. For the shower by mail “invitation,” I created an oversized card that explained the plan, as well as a smaller card where guests could write “blessings” for the babies and mail it back to me in an envelope provided.  The entire suite was wrapped in burlap ribbon with a pink and white baker’s twine bow, and sent it in a light pink envelope. The sip & see invitation was printed on pearlized stock and mailed in a shimmery tan envelope.
